Editorial and testing policy

CompressResize publishes practical image guidance alongside tools that run locally in the browser. This page explains how we decide what to publish, how claims are checked and how readers can request a correction.

What we publish

Our guides focus on decisions that commonly cause failed uploads or unnecessarily large files: choosing between JPG, PNG and WebP, balancing dimensions against encoding quality, and preparing images for forms, email or web pages. We do not publish articles solely to repeat a file-size number or a popular search phrase. Preset tool pages may remain available for convenience, but they are not treated as independent editorial articles.

How recommendations are tested

Recommendations are checked against the actual workflows available in CompressResize. We compare output byte size, pixel dimensions, transparency support and visible artifacts using photographs, screenshots, graphics and transparent images. Tests are performed with browser encoders, so results can vary by browser, operating system, source image and requested dimensions. When no universal setting exists, the guide describes the trade-off and directs readers to compare their own file instead of presenting one quality percentage as always correct.

Privacy during testing

Images selected in the public tools are processed on the visitor's device. They are not sent to CompressResize for editorial review. Anonymous product events can tell us that a workflow produced a result or download, but they do not include images, pixels, previews or filenames. Editorial examples use purpose-made or licensed test material rather than visitor files.

Review, dates and corrections

Substantial guides display their publication or update date and identify CompressResize as the reviewing organization. We review guidance when browser format support, tool behavior or common platform requirements change. A correction should improve the recommendation itself; dates are not changed merely to make an article appear new.

If you find an inaccurate statement or a result that cannot be reproduced, emailhello.resizekit@proton.me with the page address, browser and a description of the issue. Do not attach private or sensitive images. Confirmed errors are corrected in the page and reflected in its update date when the change is material.

Advertising independence

Advertising does not determine format recommendations, test outcomes or which tools are presented as suitable. Ad code is limited to substantial publisher content and is excluded from contact, legal and thin preset pages. We do not ask visitors to click advertisements, and an advertiser does not receive access to images processed in the tools.

Who is responsible

CompressResize is an independently maintained web project. The project is responsible for its tools, written guidance, corrections and privacy disclosures. The service is free, requires no account and is funded with the intention of using clearly separated advertising once the site is approved.
