About CompressResize

CompressResize is a free collection of image tools for everyday tasks like compression, resizing, format conversion, square crops and icon creation.

How it works

The image tools use browser APIs such as File API, Canvas, Blob and object URLs. Image processing does not use a server, external image API, database or user account.

The site uses a small same-site endpoint for anonymous product events such as a successful result or download. These events contain operational measurements, not image files, pixels, previews or file names.

Why the project exists

Many image tasks are simple but still require uploading a personal photograph, document scan or work asset to an unknown server. CompressResize was created to make common adjustments available directly in the browser, without requiring an account or turning image processing into a cloud-storage workflow.

The project combines practical tools with explanations of what each adjustment changes. Reducing pixel dimensions, lowering encoder quality and converting format can all make a file smaller, but they have different consequences. The guides are intended to help visitors choose deliberately instead of repeatedly trying unexplained settings.

Privacy

Images are processed locally in your browser. CompressResize does not upload your images to a server and does not store them in a database.

Limitations

Browser-based tools depend on your device memory, browser canvas limits and available image format support. Some target sizes cannot be reached without resizing or quality loss.

How guidance is reviewed

Recommendations are checked with the same browser workflows offered on the site using different image types, including photographs, screenshots, graphics and transparent files. When the correct choice depends on the source image, the guidance explains the trade-off rather than presenting one setting as universally best. Oureditorial and testing policy describes the review and correction process.

Funding and independence

CompressResize is independently maintained and currently free. The project intends to use clearly separated advertising to support operating and development costs. Advertising does not determine format recommendations, test results or which tools are described as appropriate for a task.
